NAM ID:Restoration of a traditional oil mill as an interpretation center and ethnological museum dedicated to olive oil.
Restore an old oil mill in the Axarquía region that is in an advanced state of disrepair, with damaged roofs, collapsed walls in its western section, and the original machinery still inside.
We conducted a detailed inventory of all the elements of the complex—walls, structural components, and machinery—and assessed the condition of its facilities. To reinforce the western core, we designed an auxiliary wooden structure featuring St. Andrew’s cross bracing, dovetail joints, and stainless steel fasteners—verified through computational modeling—with natural cork expansion joints where it meets the existing masonry. The restoration project reinstates the tile roof and preserves the mill’s machinery in situ as a testament to the region’s agricultural and industrial heritage.
